CATCHING UP

To start off with Jessica played in the annual Cowgirl Classic. They beat Valley on Friday night and lost to Bryce Valley on Saturday night. During the day Saturday they had basketball olympics against the other team who came for the tournament. It was fun to watch. Jessica won the speed dribbling contest. There was four heats of four and she came out on top. The Kanab team won the left handed layup contest and teh right handed layup contest, plus a couple of other contests. The did really good.

Jessica was suppose to have a game on Tuesday and Thursday. Both were cancelled because of snow. This made it so that we could all attend Austins games with out having to split our time between games. He played great.
On Wednesday the band, strings and xpress had their annual christmas performance. Austin did great.

On Friday and Saturday of this last week I traveled with the team to Richfield for the annual basketball 2A preview. They played one game on Friday with Gunnison and one on Saturday against Roland Hall. The Gunnison game was a nail biter. The girls played great. the clincher was at the end of the game. The score was 53 - 54 in favor of Gunnison. There was 10 seconds left when Jessica was fouled. She had to shoot foul shots. I could tell by the look on her face she was a little worried about having to shoot. She has been struggling with her foul shots lately. But she made them both to win the game 55 - 54. What a great ending to a great game.




The second game against Roland Hall we were told that there was a girl on the team that was averaging 30 points per game. So they put Jessica on her to keep her from shooting. Jess did a wonderful job. She stayed with her and kept her from making points. It was so fun to watch her. The girl she was guarding was getting so frustrated. It was quite funny to watch. WE ended up winning the game by alot of points. Every girl on the bench got to play and 9 ot of the 11 scored at least one basket. It was a fun game for all of the girls. At one time all of the players were Freshmen. I had a great time chaperoning along with Linsey Glover.
