JORDANS FIRST FLYING EXPERIENCE

Yesterday we took Jordan to the Las Vegas airport to fly to Tammi's in Wenatchee Washington via Spokane.   We got him there in plenty of time to find where we needed to go.  Since his is a minor I could go with him all they way to the gate.  Which was a good thing because right when we were getting to the gate the lady at the customer service booth was announcing that the airport would be  closed for 45 minutes to an hour due to President Obama flying in for a speaking engagement.

We did get to see Air Force One.  But Jordan's flight was delayed.  They did board them about on time so we thought that they would not be that late taking off. Well instead they sat on the plane for an hour and fifteen minutes before they actually took off.   I was getting more nervous by the minute because he had connecting flight in Salt Lake and I knew he was going to miss it.   Sure enough when he got to SLC he had missed his connection and had to wait.  They did give him a voucher for a hotel and told him he would be on standby for the next flight which was in an hour or they would book him on the flight the next morning. (I don't know  how they thought that a minor would be able to stay at a hotel with no credit card or any idea of how to get there)  So when he called I told him to get in the line for customer service and ask what he was suppose to do and how to get on the next flight.   He waited in line for about 1/2 hour and finally spoke to the customer service person.  He told them he was only 17 and needed to get on the next flight.  Since he looks older than he is he had to show them his drivers license to prove that he was only 17.  They ended up getting him on that flight and he made it to Spokane only 3 hours late.  Tammi picked him up and they headed to Wenatchee.   His flight home was uneventful.  He LOVES flying.   Good thing since he wants to be a  pilot.
